ABSTRACT
Realization of tasks from the environment protection field (including soil protection topics), land management and planning require of basic data about soil and landscape. With regard to changes in landscape and soil cover the existing maps and databases need to be updated. Up to date experiences with using remote sensing and its techniques confirmed a high usefulness of remote sensing images in the considered area of interest. For these purposes, there is systematic development of image processing methods as well as integrated approach to spatial analyses with multisource data. In the paper there is a review of selected topics from the scope of remote sensing images application in landscape and soil analysis. The growing importance of data about soil and landscape is also underlined. Such importance is also present in various projects aimed at creation or updating of data bases from considered thematic scope. Based on selected experiences from the research project, the examples of using satellite images and GIS technology for updating and correction of soil landscape units are presented.
